Storage to Fit Your Space

There are loads of great reasons to get a custom fitted wardrobe for your bedroom. The biggest one our customers notice is a real feeling of having more space. You can say goodbye to bulky free-standing units that take up allot of space, when you need to maximise storage. Once the wardrobes built in, you will have all the additional space you need.

Whether you live in a large house with large rooms, such as those grand Victorian homes in North Oxford or any flat, we know that most homes don’t have enough built in storage, so here is where we come in with our skilled Wardrobe Designer, we can build a wardrobe that’s tailor-made for your space.

Our large fitted bedroom wardrobes give you tons of storage and can stretch across a whole wall if you like, a wall to wall fitted wardrobe will certainly give you masses of wardrobe storage, replacing  your old tired stand-alone wardrobe they you probably bought form Ikea, that you out grew ages ago, or was on its last legs!

These bigger built-ins are ideal for large houses with large master bedrooms, and they let you include all sorts of storage features to keep your things organised—plenty of hanging room, deep wide drawers, open shelves, pull-out trays, shoe racks, and more.

We can fit wardrobes into the most oddly shaped rooms and sizes, adding a personal touch that makes your sleeping space feel special. What we love most is creating a Fitted wardrobe that makes the absolute most of the floor space you’ve got, and that is designed to look beautiful in your bedroom.

Ideas to Organise the inside of your Fitted Wardrobes

What's the perfect Clothes Rail Height?

You may need a section for long hanging, and more for shorter hanging like shirts and T shirts.

Here is some quick heights that you should be aiming for

For single hanging such as Shirts and T shits, suite jackets, then allowing 1 meter is sufficient in most cases, however in cases of smaller people, then 80 centimetres will be sufficient, allowing for better use of the remaining space. Also hanging Trousers will only require the same, that’s around 80 centimetres

However for dresses and other long hanging items, such as winter coats, then this will require around 1.5 metres perhaps a little more allowing 1.6 metres to be in the safe side.

Shelves in your Wardrobe - Adjustable are best

Shelves are so useful inside fitted wardrobes after Clothes hanging rails. You actually get more storage on shelves than on hanging rails.

Top shelf in your Wardrobe

The top shelf of a built-in wardrobe works best for things you only reach for occasionally, such as bedding towels. This area is great for holding travel bags, spare linens, off-season outfits, and storage containers.

Most built in wardrobes have this space reserved  for larger or less frequently needed items, helping to keep the wardrobe area tidy and uncluttered.

Drawers inside Wardrobes

For small items like clothes that easily wrinkle, built in wardrobe drawers are a smart choice—they boost vertical storage, enhance tidiness, and prevent creases.

In contrast to Fixed open shelving, which often wastes space and invites mess (insisted on adjustable shelving for flexibility).

Drawers make full use of the wardrobe’s depth, stack neatly, and contribute to a nice clean and uncluttered look.

Consider when you require Accessory Drawers, Shallow Drawers, or Deep Drawers

Shoe racks

We can make dedicated shoe shelving to wonderfully display your wonderful and perhaps extensive shoe collection, making styling your outfits all the much easier.

The best shoe storage for a built in wardrobe is perhaps angled shelving, these are the most effective, creating a clutter free aesthetic. The main advantage for angled shelves is that it keeps pairs of shoes or footwear in place, and be easily viewable.

Pull-out racks make it easy to reach shoes stored at the bottom of the wardrobe without having to rummage around.

Shallow shelves are perfect for tight or narrow spaces, keeping every pair visible and easy to grab,  so nothing gets lost or forgotten.

Mirrors in or on your Wardrobe

Incorporating mirrors into the doors of your built-in wardrobe is a smart move.
Not only do they give the impression of a more spacious bedroom, but they also bounce light around the room, resulting in a noticeably brighter space.
Mirrors inside wardrobes create a space savings solution to a separate mirror in your bedroom, if you are short of space.
  • Mirrored doors can be created by replacing solid panel with a mirror.
  • Hang a mirror on the  back of doors for a handy place for mirrors. This small upgrade enhances how well your built-in wardrobe works while making it feel both airier and more illuminated.

Add Lighting for Luxury

Here’s another smart idea for your fitted wardrobe —light up the inside.

A bit of lighting can instantly make the space feel bigger, brighter, and way more practical.  No more fumbling around in the shadows just to find your favourite jumper.

LED Clothes Hanging rail

Think about adding an LED rail that comes with motion sensors. As soon as you open the wardrobe, the lights turn on by themselves, and they shut off when you close the door.

It’s a simple way to keep everything visible and neatly organized without any extra effort.

Oxford Neighbourhoods Served

We make Fitted wardrobes for all of Oxfords home, in all areas,  Cowley, Headington, Iffley Summertown, North Oxford, Jericho, Marston and Cumnor Hill to name a few.

Oxford’s housing market offers everything from charming thatched cottages to spacious modern homes. In North Oxford, particularly Summertown and Jericho, Victorian and Edwardian properties are common.

Period homes typically feature alcoves beside their fireplaces—perfect spots for bespoke built in alcove wardrobes or built in Cupboards. The same alcove design appears in many Victorian houses across Cowley and Iffley, which also date mainly from the Edwardian or Victorian era.

There, too, we can install custom fitted wardrobes. Additionally, Oxford has a significant number of 1930s houses, especially in the greater Headington area. These, too, include alcove spaces ideal for alcove cupboards. In bedrooms, those same alcoves work beautifully for fitted wardrobes.

Why a made to measure Fitted Wardrobe Solution is the only choice in Oxford

Unlike modern homes, which are all built from a standard blueprint, most properties in Oxford are far more varied.

In Oxford you’ll find older 1930s semis, post-modern designs from the 80s, period Victorian and Edwardian houses, and even Georgian homes on the streets opposite the Oxford Playhouse – all built by different construction crews.

This means that even in a row of houses that appear identical from the outside, the internal walls and dimensions will almost certainly differ.

As a result, wardrobe with standard-sized units simply won’t fit properly.

The only answer is to install bespoke, made-to-measure Fitted Wardrobes in Oxford.

Yes we are!

We were founded here in Oxford over 20 years ago just outside Woodstock, in Long Hanborough.

Yes, we make custom made to measure furniture that is designed to fit the space.

We do not use the common used method of making ‘bespoke’ furniture by stacking standard sized cabinets together to best fill the space, then filling the gaps up with filler panels.

Full Carcass construction

All our furniture is made fully lined, meaning you will get a fully enclosed cabinet/cupboard

All joined sections are applied with a front framework, covering any join or part.

A cheaper method that is used by others is to attach battens  to the walls. The ceiling and floor would be an integral part of the construction and would be seen when viewed inside, its essentially a cheaper way to make built-in furniture.

These are often made by on the job Carpenters, and some of the larger companies.

We can paint in any colour you like, and use paint from your preferred paint company, or alternatively in a extra hard lacquer.

Painting is carried out in our workshop before your furniture is installed in your home, meaning your furniture will be ready sooner with less disruption.

We construct your furniture in our fully equipped workshop, ready for installation.

This means we can control the quality of the manufacturing process using our dedicated machines.

Resulting in minimal disruption to you and your home.

Our fitting process takes a day or two at most , and your furniture is ready to use the day we finish.

Compare that to a company that works onsite. They will usually take over a week,  cutting up all that wood in your lovely home, not forgetting how ever long it takes to painting it.

Yes we provide free Quotes.

However for your initial enquiry, please  complete our enquiry form or send us a email with a brief and approximate measurements.

We will use this to provide you with the likely cost of your furniture.

If you are happy with our costings, we will be happy to arrange a home visit.

By selecting sound and high quality materials, and the appropriate paint finish, we ensure that the furniture we make for you will last a lifetime.

With extensive use of double panel construction, and Front Frame Face  together with attention to detail means we create a beautiful long lasting product.

Our painted Furniture can be repainted if you fancy a colour change, or if requires refreshing in many many years to come.

We have hundreds of satisfied customers.

Just look at our reviews on Google and Houzz.

Our process usually takes around 8 weeks from your order.

Fitted Furniture vs Built in Furniture

Honestly, there’s no official rulebook –  There’s essentially no difference today, it’s just how UK joiners have talked for years.

That said, traditionally the term “built-in” was used when furniture had a framework attached directly to the walls, with doors fixed on.

“Fitted” was more for wall-to-wall storage. But in modern workshops across Oxfordshire and beyond, the two have merged.

Most customers use them interchangeably, and so do we. What matters isn’t the label – it’s precise measuring, quality materials, and a design that will make the space look lovely.
